I told her the date, time, place weeks in advance but she wasn't here.  She could still be coming though, right? I sent her a text:

'are you coming?'

-'No, can't'

'I could get you a ride if you need one'

-'That's not the problem'

Then what happened? I was excited and I thought she was too; at least she sounded that way.

She said she could, would come

All I can do is wait as people walk through the door; all people who had actually kept their promises to show up.

And I know I can't blame her, anything can happen really; but I was stupidly upset. 

Stupidly upset as I watched someone blow out the candles of their birthday cake, surrounded by the people who kept their promise.

Stupidly upset as I was told to bring a kid who couldn't stop crying to the bathroom,  holding tears myself.
