2015,

There was a girl I was friends with when we were younger but then disconnected and became friendly again when we were older. We texted and caught up and hung out a few times. I noticed she was starting to call me her best friend and it made me uncomfortable because I did not feel the same way. Honestly I felt that she was pushy and domineering and manipulative, and only talked about herself. But, I didn't know how to cut off the friendship and doubted my intuition about her and just felt that there was no harm letting her stay in my life as someone to talk to. She was getting married and asked me to be her maid of honor, and I was taken aback. She would call me her best friend but everything we talked about felt shallow, and she dominated every conversation so I felt like she didn't even know me cause she never let me talk. I felt so put on the spot that I accepted. I had a hard time saying no to people at that time, especially manipulative people. Months later when the date rolled around she was just getting more and more bossy about the duties that I was going to have to do on the wedding day. I felt like I got myself in way over my head. It was a small wedding, and I almost cancelled the day before because I was so fed up with how she was treating me. On the day of, I had a panic attack and felt nauseous and just cried to my mom about not going. It felt wrong and I didn't feel like I was her friend and I didn't want to spend any more time around her. I ended up doing it but never spoke to her again like I did before. She still reaches out but I ignore it.
