we're visiting the new house of my mother's friends.

we dont see these people at all anymore, but my mom used to be pretty close with the mom of the family, and as a result, i was close with their daughter that was around the same age as me. i think i looked up to her a lot as a kid? she knew more than me, and i remember her making a lot of sex jokes and not knowing what she was talking about so i'd just nod along and try my best to pretend that i understood. but anyways, we'd drive an hour or so down to their new place and sleep the night over, usually up in the daughter's bedroom. i say we because my sister was also there, and she was a lot younger than us. only two years, but whe you're 10 or 11 that means that a 2 year difference kind of feels like a lot. ESPECIALLY, when my younger sister was extremely hyperemotional. when they had a bunch of kids over at their house, i'd be completely responsible for my younger sister while my mom talked with her friends and she'd always find something to make her upset. maybe the other little kids weren't playing how she wanted, or i'd forget to include her in a game on their wii or she'd miss our mom. whatever it is, the older kids would always tell me to talk to her. i remember having to search around a house that wasnt mine in order to find my little sister and coax her into being happy again. i hated it. i was a kid, i shouldnt have been responsible for her emotions.
